Kanye West went on a twitter rampage yesterday, praising conservative thinkers and railing against the “thought police”.
But politics aside, he also made a comment that has a lot of relevance to people everywhere about how to live a happier life.
self victimization is a disease

Self victimization – aka the “Victim Mentality” is a mindset that anyone can fall into, where you begin to blame the problems of your life on forces outside your control. People who struggle with a victim mentality constantly believe that they are unable to be happy or reach their goals because of some force or problem that is outside their power to change.
Simply put, a victim mentality is blaming everybody and everything but yourself for your problems.
But what if my problems really are not my fault?
One of the tough things about the victim mentality is that it’s not untrue. Some people are victims. Often, the problems in your life really are not your fault. Sometimes forces beyond your control really do ruin your perfectly crafted plans.
Nevertheless, you are the only person who has a solution to your problems. And that’s why you always need to take radical responsibility for every element of your life. You need to live as if nobody going to come along and solve your problems for you.
Alternatives to Self Victimization
The most important antidote to the victim mentality is gratitude. You simply can’t feel thanks for the things you have while also feeling like a victim.
By emphasizing to yourself the positive elements of your life, you don’t just start to feel better – you start to see the world in a better light.
Instead of obstacles and threats, you start to see opportunities and meaningful challenges.
Seeing opportunities and meaningful challenges makes you feel motivated and fortunate.
Being motivated and feeling lucky creates a virtuous cycle and helps you break out of whatever rut you are in.
As you ditch the victim mentality you start to become more fun to be around. More charming and charismatic. More positive. You enjoy life more and create easier connections with the people around you.
