Lets talk again about my “secret sauce”.
You know, the powerful thing that gets results for my students, and why I can’t just share it in an email with every dude who bugs me for it.
It’s not because I’m holding it back.
It’s not because I’m just a selfish jerk.
It’s not because my secret sauce is just marketing wank that doesn’t really exist.
The secret thing, that will help solve your problems, that will center you emotionally and enable you to relate better to people.
It’s the Truth.
The big, captial-T, Truth.
The reality is, if you are truly and fully honest about your problems, you can almost always fix them – and if they really are unfixable you can find a workaround.
But when you have problems that stick out and hurt you day, after day after day, they usually have a cause that goes deeper than you are willing to look.
And why are you unwilling to look deeper?
Because you are afraid of the truth.
We all are.
The truth sucks.
It’s painful. Humiliating. Excruciating.
But you can’t even begin to solve your problems unless you start by getting at the truth.
And conversely, when you lie, you completely lose your ability to solve problems.
So how does this relate to coaching?
Well, my job as a coach is to be the mean old man that tells you the truth about yourself.
I don’t sugar coat things. I don’t tell you what you want to hear.
I don’t want to over-state my meanness, I can also be nice at times.
But mostly I don’t want to be nice. I want to help my students overcome the internal obstacles they have to living a better life.
If what I just described to you sounds awful, no worries. You are one of the 99% of people who don’t want their worldview challenged.
But if you really want to change the things that are preventing you from living a more exciting and rich social and dating life…
And you aren’t afraid of the Truth….
And you can get your arse to Toronto for this weekend…
