If you suffer from attention deficit disorder, you know that ADHD is a real condition that has real repercussions for your dating and social life.
In my work as a coach, I’ve noticed a lot of common dating problems seem to correspond with ADHD symptoms.
- Forgetfulness causes people with ADHD to be flakey. It can cause them to forget to call/text, or to show up late for dates, or to forget people’s names when they meet them.
- Impulsiveness causes people with ADHD to fall for someone too quickly and too hard, and then change their mind equally fast.
- Inattentiveness causes people with ADHD to miss social cues, flirty gestures and conversational cues.
- Distractibility causes people with ADHD to bounce from conversation to conversation. It can also lead to them missing out on creating deeper connections.
Over the next few days, I want to talk about ADHD and it’s affects on dating.
I am going to cover some of the particular issues that people with ADHD face in dating and give some concrete advice.
But first I’d love to find out what people’s stories and struggles are.
Do you have ADHD?
How does your ADHD affect your dating life?
Have you ever dated someone with ADHD?
What are the problems and frustrations you have faced as someone with ADHD?
Are there any ticks or tips you can share that have helped you manage dating with ADHD?
Reply in the comments with your stories and I will discuss them over the next few days.
